December 27

This week was very acoustic. It was nice to hear the congregational singing above everything else.

Here were our songs:
O Come All Ye Faithful
Because of Your Love - Paul Baloche
You Are the One - David Potter

I also sang I've Got News by Andrew Peterson to help prepare us to hear from God.

Happy New Year!

The songs for this week were quite different than the week before. Instead of strings and bluegrass, it was heavy metal madness! It is always fun when the Christopherson brothers are home, even if the volume goes to 11 once in a while.

These were our songs:
Go Tell It On the Mountain - Original Arrangement
What Child Is This - Loosely based on this arrangement
Glory in the Highest - Chris Tomlin
O Holy Night - traditional arrangement

What a treat this week. We had some great musicians join us on strings and piano. It was a real joy playing with this group, and I hope we can get them back again soon. If you were there and liked the style (or if you think you might like a folk/bluegrass Christmas album), you should pick up Advent Songs by Sojourn. Amazing.

Here were the songs we played:
Joy to the World - Sojourn
Away in a Manger - Traditional
This Is How We Know - Matt Redman
Mary Did You Know - Arr. David Potter
God Is With Us - Sojourn

Christmas is here! We kicked off Journey's first Christmas with an old fashioned sing-a-long. It was fun to have a few extra singers this week (it was not a choir! haha).

We kicked off Christmas with these songs:
O Come All Ye Faithful
Angels We Have Heard on High
It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
Hark the Herald Angels Sing
O Come O Come Emmanuel
Come Thou Long Expected Jesus - Arr. David Potter

We remembered Christmas is not just a story about a baby in a manger, but a pivotal point in the whole story of redemption. Jesus was born on earth so that he could be our savior. We ended our service by singing together the chorus of Mighty to Save.

Here were our songs this week:
Blessed Be Your Name - Matt Redman
Everlasting God - Lincoln Brewster
Amazing Grace - Arr. Chris Tomlin
Nothing but the Blood - Traditional Hymn
The Wonderful Cross - Matt Redman

I for one am looking forward to singing some seasonal music this month! Can't wait to kick it off this week with an ol' fashioned sing-a-long.
